Prosetry:The Kids are More Important

..So, I spontaneous generated this piece of writing yesterday. I'm not 100% certain whether it is prose or poetry, but hey, why not both? So, I have decided to refer to it as "prosetry."
That sounds kind of like a deposit of something, doesn't it? As if one might say, "we just found a prosetry of fossils at the site," or some such thing.
That's beautiful. I'm going to say it until it becomes a thing, i.e,

Prosetry (noun)
a. A combination of prose and poetry
"I've just written some wicked prosetry"
b. A deposit (specifically, a natural deposite) of something.
"There is a prosetry of oil underneath my home."

Consider it coined.
On to the prosetry itself! It's about the juxtaposition I see between the kids I work with now, and my choice to work hard to give a good future to my biological children. So...that.
I've never written any poetry (PROSETRY) before, so advice is well appreciated!
..........................................................................................................................................
I'm at the mall, shopping with a friend,
And as she's eying cute clothing and unique make-up
I'm scrutinizing organic candy and Moshi Monsters
Because the kids are more important.
In the evening, I peruse Pokemon, imagining which cards will most enthrall the bright faces that greet me every morning,
Before I have packed my lunch or laid out my uniform
Because the kids are more important

The kids are more important,
So I choose analyzing poetry over attending parties,
And memorizing the words of a French philosopher from years long ago over messing around with friends.
I choose to learn, to excel, to improve;
To attain the best outlook possible for my future family.
Is it possible?
That my actions now can affect my children in the future?
My children; the ones whom I will wear close to my heart,
Whose hands I will hold as we walk,
Whose voices will regale me with stories and serenade me with songs?
With whom I will make cards, meals, crafts-a family?
I don't know,
But I'm not taking any chances.
Because the kids are more important.
